Part 19 I am baptized in Jesus name and filled with His
Spirit because I want to be part of the body of Christ.
Our physical body is a metaphor of the body of Christ. Our
physical body has a name and a spirit. When we are baptized in Jesus name, Jesus’
name is called upon us. When we receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, we are
filled with His Spirit. Through the gospel, we become part of the body of
Christ with His name and His Spirit.
"For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all
the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For
by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or
Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one
Spirit. For the body is not one member,
but many." - 1 Corinthians 12:12-14 KJV (See 1 Corinthians 12:15-27).
"That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the
same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:" -
Ephesians 3:6 KJV
Jesus is the head of His body and we with others that also
have His name and Spirit are members of His body.
"And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the
beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the
preeminence." - Colossians 1:18 KJV
"Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in
particular." - 1 Corinthians 12:27 KJV
"There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are
called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God
and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." -
Ephesians 4:4-6 KJV
"And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and
some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the
saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of
Christ:" - Ephesians 4:11-12 KJV
