We need His Spirit, the Holy Ghost

Receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost (Spirit) is not just something nice to have; it is essential to our salvation and our walk with God.

"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." - John 3:5 KJV

Peter preached the gospel to the Jews gathered in Jerusalem for Pentecost.

"Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:37-38 KJV

Peter preached that they must repent of their sins (turn from their sinful nature), be baptized in Jesus name for the remission of sins (bury their sinful nature Romans 6:4, Colossians 2:12), and be filled with the Spirit of Jesus (speaking with other tongues, as the Spirit gives the utterance Acts 2:4).

The Bible says quite frankly,

"So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his." - Romans 8:8-9 KJV

When we are full of the Holy Ghost (the Spirit of Jesus) we can walk in the Spirit.

"This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh." - Galatians 5:16 KJV

When we are baptized in Jesus name and full of His Spirit, then we can be led by His Spirit.

"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." - Romans 8:14 KJV

"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." - Romans 8:1 KJV

"For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting." - Galatians 6:8 KJV
