Jesus told Nicodemus there is a sound when a person is born
of the Spirit.
"The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest
the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth:
so is every one that is born of the Spirit." - John 3:8
We cannot see where God’s Spirit is coming from, and we
cannot see where God’s Spirit is going, but we hear the sound when a person is
born of the Spirit. As God fills them with His Spirit, we hear the person
speaking in tongues as the Spirit of Jesus gives them utterance. (Acts 2:4).
On the Day of Pentecost, when the Holy Ghost was first
poured out, there came a sound like the wind, just as Jesus told Nicodemus.
What was this sound? It was the speaking of tongues as the Spirit spoke through
all the believers in the upper room, just as Jesus said would happen to
everyone that is born of the Spirit.
"And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a
rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And
there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each
of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with
other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." - Acts 2:2-4
