The Glory of the Lord

There appears to be several meanings for the word “glory.”

One meaning is, “dignity, glory(-ious), honour, praise, worship.” (Strong’s Definitions)

Another meaning is, “Shekinah, the glory of the Lord, and simply, a bright cloud by which God made manifest to men his presence and power on earth.” (Thayer’s Greek Lexicon).

"And the glory of the LORD abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud." - Exodus 24:16 KJV

"And the sight of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel." - Exodus 24:17 KJV

"And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by my glory." - Exodus 29:43 KJV

"Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle." - Exodus 40:34-35 KJV

"And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the LORD, So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD." - 1 Kings 8:10-11 KJV

"Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.

“And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD'S house.

“And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever." - 2 Chronicles 7:1-3 KJV
