The Gospel
The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.
"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel
which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by
which also ye are saved...
“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also
received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and
that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the
scriptures:" - 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV
The gospel was preached to us, we received it, we stand in
the gospel, and we are saved by the gospel.
We are saved by the gospel when we apply to our own life the
death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. (Romans 6).
Repentance is death to sin.
Water baptism in Jesus name is burial of old nature.
Holy Ghost infilling is resurrection to new life.
Peter preached the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus
on the Day of Pentecost when the church began. The people were pricked in their
heart, then asked, “What shall we do?”
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye
shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38 KJV
Apostle Paul said of the gospel,
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it
is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew
first, and also to the Greek." - Romans 1:16 KJV
