On Sunday, the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went early in the morning to see the tomb. There was a great earthquake, for the angel of the Lord had come, rolled back the stone, and sat upon it. (Matthew 28:1-4).
"And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear
not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for
he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
“And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen
from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye
see him: lo, I have told you.
“And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and
great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word." - Matthew 28:5-8
The good news is not only that Jesus died for our sins, but
that He rose again!
"I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am
alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death." -
Revelation 1:18
This is the message that we are to tell the world - Jesus
died for our sins, was buried, and on the third day rose again. This is the
gospel message.
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye
shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
“For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to
all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." -
Acts 2:38-39
When we repent of our sins, are baptized in Jesus name for
the remission of our sins, and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:4),
we have the same power over death and the grave by His Spirit dwelling in us.
"But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the
dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken
your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you." - Romans 8:11
Jesus spoke to His disciples,
"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and
preach the gospel to every creature." - Mark 16:15
Jesus is risen!
