Jesus commanded His disciples.
"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and
preach the gospel to every creature." - Mark 16:15 KJV
"He that believeth [the gospel] and is baptized shall
be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." - Mark 16:16 KJV
We find that when we believe AND obey the gospel, we find
salvation. We obey the gospel by being baptized in water and of the Spirit.
(John 3:5).
Those that preach the gospel must be sent, preaching the
true gospel which brings salvation.
"And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it
is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace,
and bring glad tidings of good things! But they have not all obeyed the gospel.
For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?" - Romans 10:15-16
KJV
Apostle Paul explained the gospel.
"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel
which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by
which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless
ye have believed in vain." - 1 Corinthians 15:1-2 KJV
Paul declared the gospel, preaching to the people. The
people received the gospel. They stood by the gospel. They were saved by
obedience to the gospel. (If they had believed the gospel, but had not obeyed
the gospel, they would have believed in vain.)
"For I delivered unto you first of all that which I
also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the
scriptures:" - 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 KJV
How do we obey the gospel – the death, burial, and
resurrection of Jesus?
Repentance is death to sin, water baptism in the name of
Jesus is burial of old nature, Holy Ghost infilling is resurrection to new
life.
Apostle Peter preached on the Day of Pentecost how we obey
the gospel.
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye
shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38 KJV
