Part Three - When did the early church baptize new converts?

When the Philippian jailer asked Paul and Silas, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"

Paul and Silas answered.

"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house." - Acts 16:31-32 KJV

When did the jailer and his household get baptized after they heard the word of the Lord?

The same hour of the night.

"And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway." - Acts 16:33 KJV

When Paul traveled to Ephesus, he found disciples of John. He asked them,

"Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?

“And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost." - Acts 19:2 KJV [Note: They had heard about the Holy Ghost from John the Baptist. They had not heard that the Holy Ghost was being poured out.]

"And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized?

“And they said, Unto John's baptism." - Acts 19:3 KJV

"Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus." - Acts 19:4 KJV

When did the men get baptized?

They got baptized as soon as they heard this.

"When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus." - Acts 19:5 KJV
