How are we baptized into Christ?
We are sorrowful for our past sins, and turn our back on
sinful living.
"But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not
provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof [to indulge in evil
desires]." - Romans 13:14 KJV (Romans 8:1-14).
"For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ
have put on Christ." - Galatians 3:27
We are baptized into Christ when we are baptized in water
and in the Spirit. (John 3:5, Acts 2:38, Romans 13:14). We are baptized in
water in the name of “JESUS,” and in the Spirit when we receive the Holy Ghost,
speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives us the utterance. (Acts 2:4, Acts 10:44-48, Acts 19:4-60).
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye
shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new
creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
- 2 Corinthians 5:17 (Also: Ephesians 4:24, Colossians 3:10).
We are baptized in the Spirit so that we may have the power
of Jesus in us to overcome sin. (Acts 1:8).
"And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh
with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in
the Spirit." - Galatians 5:24-25 KJV
"This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not
fulfil the lust of the flesh." - Galatians 5:16 KJV
