To whom was Jesus speaking to in John 3:16?
Jesus was speaking to Nicodemus, the ruler of the Jews, the
same person He was speaking to in John 3:5 just a few verses earlier.
"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the
kingdom of God." - John 3:5 KJV
How are we born of water and of the Spirit? We are baptized
in water in Jesus name, and we receive His Spirit (the Holy Ghost), speaking in
tongues. (Acts 2:38, John 3:8, Acts 2:2, Acts 2:4).
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye
shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38 KJV
"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and
began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." -
Acts 2:4 KJV
