Part 3
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life…” How is
Jesus the life?
In the beginning, in the garden of Eden, when Adam and Eve
broke their covenant with God and ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and
evil, death came upon them, and upon all mankind after them.
"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world,
and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have
sinned:" - Romans 5:12 KJV
"So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of
the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to
keep the way of the tree of life." - Genesis 3:24 KJV (Isaiah 59:2).
"But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: that
as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness
unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord." - Romans 5:20-21 KJV (also:
Romans 5:15, 17).
Life is in Jesus by the gospel. The gospel is Jesus’ death,
burial, and resurrection. (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).
"But is now made manifest by the appearing of our
Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and
immortality to light through the gospel:" - 2 Timothy 1:10 KJV
"I am come that they might have life, and that they
might have it more abundantly." - John 10:10 KJV (John 1:4, John 11:25).
"But now being made free from sin, and become servants
to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life." -
Romans 6:22 KJV
"He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit
saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree
of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God." - Revelation 2:7
KJV
