We are in this world, but we are not of this world. We are
servants of our Lord and Saviour Jesus.
"They are not of the world, even as I am not of the
world." - John 17:16
"But now being made free from sin, and become servants
to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life." -
Romans 6:22
"For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God
in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." - 1 Corinthians 6:20
"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil,
and he will flee from you." - James 4:7
"Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome
them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world."
- 1 John 4:4
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth
me." - Philippians 4:13
Daniel was a servant of the Lord. He was taken captive to
the foreign kingdom of Babylon and made a servant of a heathen king that did
not serve the Lord. Daniel was determined to live for God no matter where he
was nor what his situation.
"But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not
defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he
drank..." - Daniel 1:8
In the midst of Babylon, Daniel was faithful to God, and God
blessed him greatly. The king glorified God:
"Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and
worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet
odours unto him. The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is,
that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets,
seeing thou couldest reveal this secret. Then the king made Daniel a great man,
and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of
Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon." -
Daniel 2:46-48 KJV
Another time, after God delivered Daniel from the lion’s den,
the king made this decree, glorifying God:
"Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and
languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you. I make a
decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the
God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom
that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the
end." - Daniel 6:25-26 KJV
