"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." - Acts 1:8
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye
shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38
We crucify our “old man” of sin (“the flesh”) when we repent
of our sins, and put on the “new man” when we are baptized in the name of Jesus
and are filled with His Spirit, the Holy Ghost.
"Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him,
that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve
sin." - Romans 6:6 KJV
"And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh
with the affections and lusts." - Galatians 5:24 KJV
"For if ye live after the flesh [sinful life], ye shall
die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body [repent of
the sinful life], ye shall live." - Romans 8:13 KJV
"Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off
the old man with his deeds [old life of sin]; and have put on the new man
[filled with the Spirit of Jesus], which is renewed in knowledge after the
image of him that created him [as you learn to know your Creator and become
like Him]:" - Colossians 3:9-10 KJV
"For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free
from righteousness. What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now
ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
“But now being made free from sin, and become servants to
God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is
eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." - Romans 6:20-23 KJV
"This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not
fulfil the lust of the flesh [sin]." - Galatians 5:16 KJV
"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which
are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh [sin], but after the
Spirit." - Romans 8:1 KJV
