We have choices.
We choose what we are going to listen to, what we are going
to spend our time looking at, and what we are going to spend our time doing. We
choose where we are going to go, and what we are going to talk about. At any point
we can stop to go in another direction.
We choose what we think about. We choose if we dwell on
certain thoughts. We have the power to stop thinking thoughts that we don't
want to think about, to change our mind and to think about other things.
"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye
transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good,
and acceptable, and perfect, will of God [Don’t copy the behavior and customs
of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way
you think]." - Romans 12:2 KJV
It is up to us to:
"Cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and
spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear [reverence] of God." - 2
Corinthians 7:1 KJV
"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil,
and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.
Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded [your
loyalty is divided between God and the world] ... Humble yourselves in the
sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up." - James 4:7-8, 10 KJV
"Save yourselves from this untoward [crooked]
generation." - Acts 2:40 KJV
"Choose you this day whom ye will serve…" - Joshua
24:15 KJV
