Another mystery revealed

Another mystery that is revealed about us Gentiles is that blindness in part is happened to Israel until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

"For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery [I want you to understand this mystery], lest ye should be wise in your own conceits [so that you will not feel proud about yourselves]; that blindness in part is happened to Israel [some of the people of Israel have hard hearts], until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in [but this will last only until the full number of Gentiles comes to Christ]." - Romans 11:25 KJV

"I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy [Did God’s people stumble and fall beyond recovery? Of course not! They were disobedient, so God made salvation available to the Gentiles. But he wanted his own people to become jealous and claim it for themselves]." - Romans 11:11 KJV

"For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches. And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee [But you must not brag about being grafted in to replace the branches that were broken off. You are just a branch, not the root]." - Romans 11:16-18 KJV

As Gentiles, when we obeyed the gospel (Acts 2:38), we were grafted in to the olive tree of Abraham and his descendants. (Romans 4:16).  The natural branches are the people of Israel.

Paul warns us Gentiles to be faithful, and gives a hope for Israel:

"Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: for if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again." - Romans 11:20-23 KJV

Mystery Revealed

There are mysteries that were hidden but are now revealed. One mystery revealed is that the gospel is for the Gentiles, not for the Jews only.

God called Paul to reveal this mystery. (Acts 26:18).

"How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery… which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; that the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel…Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ [endless treasures available to them in Christ];" - Ephesians 3:3-6, 8 KJV

"Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: to whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: [For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory.]" - Colossians 1:26-27 KJV

"And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel," [And pray for me, too. Ask God to give me the right words so I can boldly explain God’s mysterious plan that the Good News is for Jews and Gentiles alike.] - Ephesians 6:19 KJV

Peter preached the Good News of the Gospel on the Day of Pentecost. He didn’t realize it at the time, but he prophesied that the promise of the Holy Ghost is also to the Gentiles - “those afar off.” (Ephesians 2:11-22).

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." - Acts 2:38-39 KJV

And now why tarriest thou?

After his road to Damascus experience, seeing the Light of Jesus and hearing His voice, Saul of Tarsus was blind for three days. “Three days” is associated with the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ - after three days Jesus rose again. (Mark 8:31).

After Saul’s three days of blindness, God sent a witness to him with the message of salvation. It appears Saul had a death, burial, and resurrection experience… (Romans 6:4).

"And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there, came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.

“And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth. For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.

“And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord." - Acts 22:12-16 KJV

We don't know Saul anymore as Saul of Tarsus that persecuted and killed the Christians. We now know him as Paul the Apostle, called by the name of Jesus, called to proclaim that Name and the gospel to the world. Not just to his fellow Jews, but also to us Gentiles.

"By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name: [Through Christ, God has given us the privilege [grace] and authority as apostles to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name.]" - Romans 1:5 KJV

Paul called by God to preach the gospel to the Gentiles

Paul persecuted the Christians, shutting them up in prison and having them put to death. Jesus appeared to Paul on the road to Damascus.

"Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests, at midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me. And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, to open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them [God’s people] which are sanctified by faith that is in me." - Acts 26:12-18 KJV

Jesus called Paul to preach the gospel to the Gentiles (non-Jews).

Paul was blinded by the heavenly vision.

"And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord. And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth, and hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight." - Acts 9:10-12 KJV

"Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem...But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:" - Acts 9:13, 15 KJV

Behold, I show you a mystery

The word “mystery” is used a number of times in the New Testament.

In the following verse, mystery is “a hidden purpose or counsel; secret will: …used of certain single events decreed by God having reference to his kingdom or the salvation of men, Romans 11:25; 1 Corinthians 15:51;”

Paul reveals a mystery.

Paul wrote to the believers in Corinth:

"Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed [We will not all die, but we will all be transformed], in a moment [It will happen in a moment], in the twinkling of an eye [in the blink of an eye], at the last trump [when the last trumpet is blown]: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead [those who have died] shall be raised incorruptible [raised to live forever], and we shall be changed [transformed]. For this corruptible [our dying bodies] must put on incorruption [transformed into bodies that will never die], and this mortal must put on immortality [our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies]." - 1 Corinthians 15:51-53 KJV

"So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption [when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die], and this mortal [our mortal bodies] shall have put on immortality [must be transformed into immortal bodies], then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written [Isaiah 25:8], Death is swallowed up in victory." - 1 Corinthians 15:54 KJV

"He will swallow up death in victory [forever]; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth [He will remove forever all insults and mockery against his land and people]: for the LORD hath spoken it." - Isaiah 25:8 KJV

Teaching us...

 Paul wrote to Titus,

"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." - Titus 2:11-14 KJV

Another translation:

"For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds." - Titus 2:11-14 NLT

Church!

The Lord promised he would be back for His church. We can see the signs of the times.

"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." - 2 Peter 3:9 KJV

"But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night…" - 2 Peter 3:10 KJV

"Be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation…" - 2 Peter 3:14-15 KJV

Another translation:

"The Lord isn't really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent." - 2 Peter 3:9 NLT

"But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief..." - 2 Peter 3:10 NLT

"Make every effort to be found living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in his sight. And remember, our Lord's patience gives people time to be saved…" - 2 Peter 3:14-15 NLT

The Lord gives us the fivefold ministry to grow in Christ and equip us to do His work. This is one important reason to go to church.

"And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:" - Ephesians 4:11-13 KJV

To begin the journey –

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38 KJV

"Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls." - Acts 2:41 KJV

"And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine [teaching] and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers." - Acts 2:42 KJV

"Life Instruction Manual" with the verses

 Here are the verses:

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38 KJV

"And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord." - Acts 22:16 KJV

"Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;" - Colossians 2:12-13 KJV

"The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:" - 1 Peter 3:21 KJV

"Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin." - Romans 6:3-6 KJV

"For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ." - Galatians 3:26-27 KJV

"For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit." - 1 Corinthians 12:13 KJV

"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." - John 3:3-5 KJV

Why I need the Word of God in my life

We need to study the Word so that we will not be ashamed of our lack of knowledge of the word of truth.

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." - 2 Timothy 2:15 KJV

We need to study the Word so that we will not be deceived:

"That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;" - Ephesians 4:14 KJV

We need to read the Word and know the doctrines of the Bible. In doing this we shall both save our self and those that hear us.

"Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee." - 1 Timothy 4:16 KJV

We need to be skillful in the Word of God:

"For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil." - Hebrews 5:12-14 KJV

The Word of God is a major part of our armour against satan:

"Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:" - Ephesians 6:11-17 KJV

Jesus fought the devil with the Word of God – “It is written:”

"And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, and saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him." - Matthew 4:3-11 KJV

It is of utmost importance to study the scriptures. By studying the word of God, the preached word is confirmed, we are established in the faith, and we become equipped to share the truth with others.

Because those in Berea “received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so,” the Bible says, “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica.”

As a result, in Berea many Jews believed, as well as many of the prominent Greek women and men.

Be anxious for nothing

The Bible speaks about being anxious. Thayer’s Greek Lexicon defines “careful” as “to be anxious; to be troubled with cares.”

When Jesus visited the home of Martha and Mary, Mary sat at Jesus’ feet and listened to what He taught.

“But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.”” (Luke 10:40 NLT). Jesus saw her anxiety.

"And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:" - Luke 10:41 KJV

"There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her."" - Luke 10:42 NLT

Mary kept her focus on Jesus.

The worries of this life will try to distract us and make us unfruitful in our spiritual walk. (Mark 4:19). Jesus said the cares of this life can even be one of the things that can weigh us down to not be ready for His return. (Luke 21:34).

What to do when we are burdened with worries?

Pray about everything. With thanksgiving. Remembering what Jesus has already done for us, looking forward to our prayers answered. With thanksgiving. Our prayers that were answered in the past building our faith for our prayers answered in the future.

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. [Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.]" - Philippians 4:6 KJV

"And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. [Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.]" - Philippians 4:7 KJV

"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. [Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.]" - 1 Peter 5:7 KJV

His name is JESUS

There is one God. He is the Everlasting Father. He is a Spirit.

He robed Himself in flesh, born of a woman, to become a substitute for our sins. He came to dwell among His creation in His name of salvation, JESUS. (Acts 4:12).

"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." - Matthew 1:21 KJV

"To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them;" - 2 Corinthians 5:19 KJV

"If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him." - John 14:7 KJV

Jesus came to pay the price for our sins so we could be filled with His Spirit. He told His disciples,

"I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you." - John 14:18 KJV

On the Day of Pentecost, Jesus kept His promise.

"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." - Acts 2:4 KJV

Peter preached that day how to be saved by Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection.

"Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38 KJV

"For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." - Acts 2:39 KJV

JESUS.

"One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." - Ephesians 4:6 KJV

Consolation

There was much persecution in the early church. Believers identified with the suffering of Jesus, while at the same time, they identified with His resurrection. Their hope of resurrection was their consolation for the suffering they endured.

"For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ...But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: [In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead]" - 2 Corinthians 1:5, 9 KJV

Paul suffered much for preaching the gospel, often risking his life, so that others might also have eternal life in Jesus. (2 Corinthians 11:23-28, 1 Corinthians 15:30-31).

"We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

“Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

“So then death worketh in us, but life in you." - 2 Corinthians 4:8-12 KJV

"For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." - Romans 8:18 KJV

"Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: but rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified." - 1 Peter 4:12-14 KJV

Church! Together!

When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He began with the words, "Our Father," using plural words throughout the prayer – OUR, US, WE.

"After this manner therefore pray ye: OUR Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give US this day OUR daily bread. And forgive US OUR debts, as WE forgive OUR debtors. And lead US not into temptation, but deliver US from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen." - Matthew 6:9-13 [Words capitalized are my emphasis.]

"For the body is not one member, but many. ... Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular." - 1 Corinthians 12:14, 27 [“…and each of you is a part of it.” NLT]

When we are born again, baptized in Jesus name and filled with His Spirit, we become part of the body of Christ.

Going to church allows the body of Christ to pray together, worship together, hear the word together, and then to go forth as laborers together.

Church!

Considering the times...

"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord." - 1 Corinthians 15:58 KJV

"See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. [So be careful how you live... Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don't act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.]" - Ephesians 5:15-17

"Walk in wisdom toward them that are without [unbelievers], redeeming the time [making the most of every opportunity]. Let your speech be alway with grace [gracious], seasoned with salt [attractive], that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man." - Colossians 4:5-6 KJV

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer [always be ready to explain it] to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:" - 1 Peter 3:15 KJV

The Army of God - Ezekiel

There is an army of Jesus name water baptized Holy Ghost filled believers that are feeling the drawing of the Lord and a desire for a refilling and refreshing of the breath of God’s Spirit.  It is a mighty army.

The vision of Ezekiel, which God gave him concerning Israel, is like this mighty army of believers today. May this army arise!

"The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones, and caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.

“And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.

“Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: and I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

“So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.

“Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.

“So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army." - Ezekiel 37:1-10

On the Day of Pentecost, there was a sound.

"And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." - Acts 2:1-4

"But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: and on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:" - Acts 2:16-18

These are a mighty army! When they arise, it will not be for a physical battle, but they will be warriors in the kingdom of God for spiritual battle. They will be filled with the breath of God – His holy presence.

"I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee." - Isaiah 44:22

["I have swept away your sins like a cloud. I have scattered your offenses like the morning mist. Oh, return to me, for I have paid the price to set you free."" - Isaiah 44:22 NLT]

"(Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)" - 2 Corinthians 6:2 KJV

Jesus taught His disciples to pray, “Thy will be done.”

"And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:" - 1 John 5:14 KJV

"And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth." - Luke 11:2 KJV

When Jesus dwelt among His creation in flesh and blood like us, He lived what He taught, as our example.

"He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done." - Matthew 26:42 KJV

God knows what He is doing. He has a plan and a purpose.

We learn that it is God’s will for us to pray for His will, no matter what.

We see things from our limited perspective, from where we are in our point and time. We may not understand His will, but Jesus knows what He is doing. We need to trust Him.

We find a peace when we resist our emotions and submit to asking for God’s will to be done. He knows the future. He knows the thoughts and intents of every person. He knows all things and what is best, for us and for His kingdom.

As Jesus said for us to pray, “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.” Revival.

Temptation

How can we avoid falling into temptation?

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world [craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions]. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever." - 1 John 2:15-17

We must guard what we look at, listen to, and where we go. The moment we recognize something as a temptation, we need to immediately turn from it to prevent being consumed by it.

"But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death." - James 1:14-15

We must also guard our thoughts, quenching unforgiving, judgmental, hateful, jealous, proud, angry, or lustful thoughts.

"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." - James 4:7

"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." - 1 Corinthians 10:13

When we turn to Jesus by repentance, become called by His name by water baptism, and receive the gift of His Holy Ghost, we are born of God. We receive the authority of Jesus name, and the power of His blood and Spirit to overcome temptation.

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38

"For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith." - 1 John 5:4

"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." - Philippians 4:13

New Self Old Self - What to Put On, and What to Put Off

As we are starting off this new year, we recall the things that need to be put on (and stay on) and the things that need to be put off (and stay off).

When we first came to God, we put off our “old man” of sin. The “old man” is our old sinful nature. We did this when we repented of our sins. We were sorrowful for the sin in our life and made a commitment to Jesus to turn our heart and life completely to Him.

We buried our old sinful nature in a watery grave of baptism “in the name of Jesus.” Through the name of Jesus, our sins were washed away by His blood. (Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16, Acts 10:43 NLT).

We then put on the “new man,” which is our new nature. (Romans 13:14). By our baptism of water and of the Spirit, we put on Christ. (Galatians 3:27). By our water baptism in Jesus name, we took on the name of Jesus and applied His blood to our life. (James 2:7, Exodus 12:23, 1 Corinthians 5:7). By our baptism of the Holy Ghost, we were filled with the Spirit of Jesus. (John 14:17-18). We are renewed in the Spirit, and daily walk in the Spirit, learning to become more like Jesus. (Galatians 5:24-25, Romans 8:1, 4, Galatians 5:16, 25, Colossians 3:10).

These are some sins we put off when we put off our old nature:

"But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath [rage], malice [malicious behavior], blasphemy [slander], filthy communication out of your mouth [dirty language]. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: [as you learn to know your Creator and become like Him.]" - Colossians 3:8-10 KJV

By our transformation by His Spirit, we become more and more the image of our Creator.

Knowing what to take off, what do we put on?

"Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies [tenderhearted mercy], kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness [gentleness], longsuffering [patience]; forbearing one another [making allowance for each other’s faults], and forgiving one another [forgive anyone that offends you], if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye [remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others]. And above all these things put on charity [love], which is the bond of perfectness [which binds us all together in perfect harmony]." - Colossians 3:12-14

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." - 2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV

"Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight..." - John 18:36 KJV

What is God’s kingdom?

The kingdom of God is an eternal, spiritual kingdom.

"For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost." - Romans 14:17 KJV

"And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you." - Luke 17:20-21 KJV

Jesus told Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews, how to enter the kingdom of God.

"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." - John 3:5 KJV

Jesus gave Peter the keys to the kingdom.

"And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven..." - Matthew 16:19 KJV

On the Day of Pentecost, Peter preached what these keys to the kingdom are, born of water and of the Spirit.

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38 KJV

Those that are part of God’s kingdom do not fight physical battles.

"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)" - 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 KJV

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." - Ephesians 6:12 KJV

The armour of God is the truth, the righteousness of the Holy Ghost, the gospel, faith, salvation, and the word of God. Praying always in the Spirit, staying alert and persistent in praying for believers everywhere. (Ephesians 6:10-18, Romans 2:8, Galatians 2:5, 14, 3:1, 5:7, Romans 14:17, Ephesians 4:24, Acts 2:38, Jude 1:20).

Church! And so much the more, as we see the day approaching...

"Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." - Hebrews 10:23-25 KJV

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication...

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:6-7 KJV

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV

Thursday, January 7, 2021

There is only one God. Jesus is His name.

"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." - Matthew 1:21

"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." - Acts 4:12

"In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: who is the image of the invisible God…" - Colossians 1:14-15 KJV

"For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily." - Colossians 2:9

"For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;" - Colossians 1:19

"To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation." - 2 Corinthians 5:19

The word of reconciliation is that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and on the third day rose again.

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38

"For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." - Acts 2:39 KJV

Only what you do for Christ will last

Fulfill your purpose. Say and do the things that will effect eternity. Make everything you do and say count for good.

Prepare yourself to face the new year. Ephesians 6:10-18:

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

"Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

"Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

"Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

"And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;" - Ephesians 6:10-18 KJV

["And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel," - Ephesians 6:19 KJV As Paul requested this, so also we pray this for us all!]

With the whole armour of God, you can make it!

There is peace WITH God, and there is the peace OF God

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38 KJV

There is peace WITH God, and there is the peace OF God.

The peace WITH God comes when we are water baptized in Jesus name for the remission of sins, applying the blood Jesus shed for us on the cross. Jesus made peace with us after sin separated us. (Isaiah 59:2, Colossians 1:21-23, Acts 2:38).

"And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself…" - Colossians 1:20 KJV

"To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them..." - 2 Corinthians 5:19 KJV

The peace OF God is found when we receive the gift of God’s Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38).

"But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." - John 14:26-27 KJV

"For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost." - Romans 14:17 KJV

We find peace WITH God by baptism in Jesus name, and the peace OF God by receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. PEACE.

You're going to make it!

With this new year, we have decided to make changes in our life. With God’s help, we can do it.

"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." - Philippians 4:13

What is repentance?

"What is repentance? It is a change of mind, that leads to a change of heart, that leads to a change in actions. This change involves both a turning from sin and a turning to God."

This change of mind is not something that goes back and forth every day, choosing God, then choosing sin. True repentance is a life change. When we repent, we do not continue in sin, saying to ourselves that grace will keep covering our sinful lifestyle.

What does Paul say about this?

"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? GOD FORBID. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should WALK IN NEWNESS OF LIFE.

“For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that HENCEFORTH WE SHOULD NOT SERVE SIN." - Romans 6:1-6 KJV (My italics.) [Note: When Paul said, “I die daily,” he was saying, “I face death daily.” This was in the context of his saying because there is a resurrection, he was willing to risk his life every day for the sake of the gospel. 1 Corinthians 15:12-23, 30-32.]

Jesus gives us the gift of His Spirit so that we CAN walk in newness of life. His Spirit leads us to make changes in our life to become holy. Jesus' Spirit gives us His power to overcome temptation and live a victorious life. With His Spirit, Jesus opens our eyes to see the way of escape from temptations. Praying in every situation, and being led by His Spirit, we keep the victory.

(Acts 1:8, Romans 12:1-2, John 14:26, 1 Corinthians 2:16, Ephesians 4:11-15, 1Corinthians 10:13, Romans 8:5-16, 1 John 5:4).

"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." - Acts 2:4 KJV

Today is a good time of the year to consecrate our life to God

What is consecrate?

Consecrate means to make holy or to dedicate to a higher purpose. Something consecrated is dedicated to God and thus sacred. It is one who is set apart, dedicated.

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God [because of all he has done for you], that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, [let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think] that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God [Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect]." - Romans 12:1-2

What more in our life can we do to please him?

What did we not accomplish for Jesus last year that we are more determined to accomplish this year?

What more can we allow God to do through us for His Kingdom?

What old bad habits are still in our life we need to get rid of, and what new good habits should we consider beginning?

Is there jealousy, envy, or covetousness that we need to let go of?

It is a good time to examine ourselves, making sure we have peace with God, and peace with one another.

How about forgiving those that have offended us? If we let go of our hurt feelings, ask Jesus to heal our spirit, and we pray for those that have offended us, our hearts are lifted of the weight of bitterness, and love floods our soul. Our spirit is set free of negativity.

We are here for a purpose.

"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended [I have not achieved it]: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind [the past], and reaching forth unto those things which are before [looking forward to what lies ahead], I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 3:13-14

"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." - Philippians 4:13
