Follow Me (part 5)
We follow not only Jesus’ death, burial, resurrection, and
testimony of His resurrection and the kingdom of God, we also follow Jesus in
His ascension.
"And when he had spoken these things, while they
beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight." -
Acts 1:9 KJV
"And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he
went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye
men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like
manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." - Acts 1:10-11 KJV
We too, those that have followed Jesus, will one of these
days also be taken up.
"For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even
so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him." - 1
Thessalonians 4:14 KJV
When the Bible says, “them also which sleep in Jesus,” it is
speaking of those that have followed Jesus by repentance, baptism in Jesus
name, and receiving the gift of His Spirit (Acts 2:38), and then have died. The
Bible says they are asleep, because they have eternal life with Jesus name
baptism and His Spirit. (Acts 7:60).
"For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that
we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent
[precede] them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven
with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and
the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall
be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and
so shall we ever be with the Lord." - 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 KJV
Just as Jesus was taken up into heaven and a cloud received Him
out of their sight, we also will be caught up in the clouds to meet Jesus in
the air.
And so shall we ever be with the Lord.
