How are souls set free from hell? By the message of and
obedience to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and
preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be
saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." - Mark 16:15-16
Jesus announced at the beginning of His ministry,
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath
anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the
brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight
to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised," - Luke 4:18 (Isaiah
61:1)
Jesus told Apostle Peter,
"And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and
upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail
against it." - Matthew 16:18
(That Rock was Christ - 1 Corinthians 10:4)
"And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of
heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and
whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." - Matthew
16:19
Peter preached the keys of the kingdom of heaven on the day
of Pentecost. The keys of the kingdom is the gospel, Acts 2:38.
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye
shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38
And the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. We were
all condemned to hell because of sin. We are set free from sin and hell by the
gospel of Jesus.
"I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am
alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death." -
Revelation 1:18
"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." - Romans 8:1
"Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh
and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death
he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; and
deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to
bondage." - Hebrews 2:14-15
"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an
holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him
who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: which in time
past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained
mercy, but now have obtained mercy." - 1 Peter 2:9-10
(Darkness – condemnation; Light – mercy)
"O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy
victory? The sting of death is sin; and
the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the
victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye
stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye
know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord." - 1 Corinthians
15:55-58
