When Jesus said, “He that believeth,” He was speaking of He
who believes the GOSPEL.
The GOSPEL is how that Christ died for our sins, that He was
buried, and that He rose again the third day. (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)
We obey the gospel by repentance, water baptism in Jesus
name for the remission of sins, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost with
the speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance.
Thus, He who believes THE GOSPEL and is BAPTIZED shall be
saved.
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye
shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to
your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God
shall call." - Acts 2:38-39
When they received the gift of the Holy Ghost, they spoke in
tongues.
"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and
began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." -
Acts 2:4
When Peter preached the gospel, the people responded.
"And with many other words did he testify and exhort,
saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly
received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them
about three thousand souls." - Acts 2:40-41
"And they continued stedfastly in the apostles'
doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. ... Praising
God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church
daily such as should be saved." - Acts 2:42, 47
