Part 17 - Continued - I am baptized in the name of Jesus to fulfill the covenant of circumcision.
Circumcision is done when the baby is eight days old. At circumcision, the baby is given his name.
"And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb." - Luke 2:21
At spiritual circumcision, which is baptism in the name of Jesus, we are given our spiritual name. We are given the name Jesus.
"Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?" - James 2:7 ["Aren't they the ones who slander Jesus Christ, whose noble name you bear?"]
Those Jews that were not circumcised, were cut off from God’s people for breaking the covenant.
"And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant." - Genesis 17:14
Those that are not spiritually circumcised by obeying the gospel by baptism are cut off from God’s people for breaking the covenant.
"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." - Mark 16:15-16
Physical circumcision is a cutting off of flesh.
"And ye shall circumcise [cut off] the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you." - Genesis 17:11
Spiritual circumcision is a cutting off of the flesh (our sinful nature) by repentance, baptism in the name of Jesus for the remission of sins, and receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost. (Romans 8:1, 8:5).
Physical circumcision was for “EVERY MAN CHILD AMONG YOU.”
"This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; every man child among you shall be circumcised." - Genesis 17:10
Spiritual circumcision of baptism in the name of Jesus is for “EVERY ONE OF YOU.”
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38
