Jesus spoke of relationship

Jesus spoke of relationship. He said,

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls." - Matthew 11:28-29 KJV

When we yoke ourselves together with Christ, it is with our whole heart, soul, and might (Deuteronomy 6:5). We yoke ourselves together when we get baptized in the name of Jesus.

With our commitment of our heart, soul, and strength to Jesus, He gives us the gift of His rest. This gift of rest is for our souls. It is the gift of the Holy Ghost.

"For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear." - Isaiah 28:11-12 (1Corinthians 14:21-22).

The world with its sin brings turmoil to our souls.

Jesus offers us rest for our souls.

We pay a heavy price for indulging in the “pleasures” of sin the world has to offer. The sin we get trapped in brings commitment that is hard to bear.

Jesus requires commitment to turn from the sin of the world and give our all to Him. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Jesus’ Spirit in us brings us love, joy, and peace. His Spirit is refreshing. It is rest to the weary.

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

“For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

“And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

“Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

“And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers." - Acts 2:38-42 KJV
