Jesus spoke to His disciples letting them know He would not leave them. They could receive His Spirit, the Holy Ghost, and Jesus would be in them. He told them He would abide with them forever. (Acts 4:13).
"And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you
another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of
truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth
him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not
leave you comfortless: I will come to you." - John 14:16-18 KJV
We find that when we turn from our sins, giving our life to
Jesus, covenanting with Him by baptism in His name, He promises He will fill us
with His Spirit, the Holy Ghost. His Holy Ghost is a promise of the covenant we
make with Him. (Acts 2:38-39).
Jesus told His disciples that His Spirit, the Holy Ghost,
would give them power to be His witnesses.
"And, being assembled together with them, commanded
them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of
the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with
water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence."
- Acts 1:4-5 KJV
"And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you:
but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on
high." - Luke 24:49 KJV
"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost
is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in
all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." -
Acts 1:8 KJV (Power to live godly and be witnesses: 2
Timothy 3:5, 2 Peter 1:3 Power to do miracles and be witnesses: Acts 4:31,
Acts 4:33, Romans 15:19).
"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and
began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." -
Acts 2:4 KJV
