God is a Spirit (John 4:24). We are humans. God speaks to us
in our human terms so that we can understand Him.
In the Old Testament, before God made Himself a body to live
and die in (Hebrews 2:14), He was invisible (1 Timothy 1:17).
The arm of the Lord
represents His power, especially His redeeming power.
"Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the
LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I
will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out
arm, and with great judgments:" - Exodus 6:6 KJV
"Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness
of thine arm they shall be as still as a stone; till thy people pass over, O
LORD, till the people pass over, which thou hast purchased." - Exodus
15:16 KJV
"Yet they are thy people and thine inheritance, which
thou broughtest out by thy mighty power and by thy stretched out arm." -
Deuteronomy 9:29 KJV
"Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons
of Jacob and Joseph. Selah." - Psalm 77:15 KJV
"O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done
marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the
victory." - Psalm 98:1 KJV
