Walking in the Spirit

Jesus did not die for us to continue in sin; He died so that we could have victory over sin by His Spirit!

When we repent of our sins and are water baptized in the name of Jesus for the washing away of our sins, Jesus promises to fill us with His Spirit (if we will receive His Spirit). (Acts 2:38, Acts 2:4).

When we repent of our sins, it is not just telling Jesus “sorry.” It is regretting we committed these sins, and committing our heart to not repeat them again.

Jesus does not expect us to handle this by ourselves. When we repent and are baptized, His plan is to give us His Spirit to give us power to have a change in our life.

"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." - Acts 1:8 KJV

"For if ye live after the flesh [your old sinful nature], ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit [the power of the Spirit] do mortify the deeds of the body [put to death the deeds of your sinful nature], ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God [children of God]." - Romans 8:13-14 KJV

When we receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of Jesus in us, it is as if God breathed into us His breath of life.

Just as when a baby is born, he takes his first breathe and begins breathing. While that first breath gives him life outside the womb, he must CONTINUE to breath to live.

It is the same with us when we are born again of the Spirit. We need to stay full of the Spirit to keep the victory over sin. This is how we WALK in the Spirit.

"This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh [Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves]." - Galatians 5:16 KJV

"Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit…" - Ephesians 6:18 KJV
