Church!
On Sunday, the first day of the Hebrew week, called “Yom
Rishon” (“first day”) in Hebrew, God said, Let there be light: and there was
light. (Genesis 1:3). God is that light.
In the beginning, the light of God was manifested out of the
darkness. When God overshadowed Mary and she conceived, the light of God was in
her womb, manifest in flesh. The light of God is His glory, His mercy, His Holy
Ghost. The son that was born is God in a human body, the light of the world. (John 1:14).
"Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the
light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall
have the light of life." - John 8:12 KJV
By the gospel – the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus
– He made a way for us to become His light. We celebrate on Sunday that Jesus
rose from the dead on the first day of the week! (Mark 16:9).
By repenting of our sins, being baptized in the name of
Jesus for the remission of our sins, and the infilling of His Spirit, we follow
Him and become His light in the world. The light of His Spirit shines through
us.
"For God, who commanded the light to shine out of
darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the
glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." - 2 Corinthians 4:6 KJV [so we
could know the glory of God that is seen in the face (mercy) of Jesus Christ.]
"For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light
in the Lord: walk as children of light:" - Ephesians 5:8 KJV We were once
facing condemnation for our sins, but now we have the light of His mercy within
us. Now we can walk as His children.
God sent Paul,
"To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to
light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness
of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in
me." - Acts 26:18 KJV (Acts 26:23).
Time for church! Time for us to be His light in the world! (Acts
2 38).
