The Bible gives us hope and the recipe for success.
"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil,
and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you."
- James 4:7-8 KJV
And then for the rest of the story… the next verses we like
to leave out, but still are there…
"Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your
hearts, ye double minded. [“purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided
between God and the world.”] Be
afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and
your joy to heaviness. [“Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there
be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom
instead of joy.”]" - James 4:8-9 KJV
But, if we do what His Word says, we find ourselves in God’s
favor.
"Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall
lift you up. [“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in
honor.”]" - James 4:10 KJV
Acts 2:38, Acts 2:4
