It is essential that we know and obey sound doctrine. It is
essential, not only for ourselves, but that we teach our children so that they
may also know and obey sound doctrine.
What sound doctrine must we know? That the LORD our God is
one LORD and His name is JESUS. (Deuteronomy 6:4, John 5:43, Isaiah 45:21-23,
Philippians 2:10-11, Acts 4:12.)
That we find forgiveness of sins by Jesus' death, burial,
and resurrection when we repent and are baptized in Jesus name. He promises He
will then fill us with His Holy Spirit. (1Corinthians 15:1-4, Acts 2:38-39)
After we repent, are baptized in Jesus name, and receive the
Holy Ghost, we continue in the apostles’ doctrine. (Acts 2:42, 2Timothy 3:16-17)
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou
shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and
with all thy might." - Deuteronomy 6:4-5 KJV
"And that from a child thou hast known the holy
scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which
is in Christ Jesus." - 2 Timothy 3:15 KJV
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye
shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to
your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God
shall call." - Acts 2:38-39 KJV
