Jesus spoke to His disciples after His resurrection.

"And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me." - Luke 24:44 KJV

We need Jesus to open our understanding, so that we may understand the scriptures.

"Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures," - Luke 24:45 KJV

Jesus than told them the gospel, His death, burial, and resurrection:

"And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:" - Luke 24:46 KJV

Then Jesus foretold of Peter’s message he should preach in Jerusalem among all nations.

"And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem." - Luke 24:47 KJV

Jesus told His disciples,

"And ye are witnesses of these things." - Luke 24:48 KJV

He then told them the promise of the Father – the Holy Ghost – would be poured out.

"And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high." - Luke 24:49 KJV

His disciples were obedient to Jesus, tarrying in Jerusalem.

"And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place." - Acts 2:1 KJV

They tarried there until they were “endued with power from on high.”

"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." - Acts 2:4 KJV

Jesus said, “repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem."

"And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven." - Acts 2:5 KJV

"Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. ... And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?" - Acts 2:6, 12 KJV

"But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:" - Acts 2:14 KJV

Peter, with the other eleven standing with him, began preaching to them the gospel. At the end of his message, the people responded.

"Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?" - Acts 2:37 KJV

Fulfilling Jesus’ command, Peter preached “repentance and remission of sins” “in his name.”

Peter also preached of “the promise” – the Holy Ghost.

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38 KJV

"For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." - Acts 2:39 KJV

The people responded.

"And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation." - Acts 2:40 KJV

"Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls." - Acts 2:41 KJV

"And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers." - Acts 2:42 KJV

"And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved." - Acts 2:47b KJV
