Wise men from the east, Gentiles, came to Herod the king of Israel, seeking the newly born King of the Jews.

"Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him." - Matthew 2:1-2 KJV

"And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also." - Matthew 2:8 KJV

"When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy." - Matthew 2:9-10 KJV

How did these Gentile wise men hear about this star and the birth of the new King of the Jews?

Perhaps the wise men were searching for the star spoken of by the Gentile prophet Balaam.

"I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel..." - Numbers 24:17 KJV

Today, if we seek the Lord, we will find Him.

"And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart." - Jeremiah 29:13 KJV

As Isaiah prophesied,

"Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:" - Isaiah 55:6 KJV

"Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon." - Isaiah 55:7 KJV

As Peter preached on the Day of Pentecost,

"Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38 KJV

"For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." - Acts 2:39 KJV
