What does the verse mean that says,

"And we beseech you, brethren, to KNOW them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;" - 1 Thessalonians 5:12 KJV (Capitalization is my emphasis).

According to Thayer’s Greek Lexicon, the word “know” in this verse has the following meaning:

“3. Hebraistically, εἰδέναι τινά to have regard for one, cherish, pay attention to: 1 Thessalonians 5:12”

This definition goes along with the following verse:

"And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves." - 1 Thessalonians 5:13 KJV

Another translation reads:

"Dear brothers and sisters, honor those who are your leaders in the Lord's work. They work hard among you and give you spiritual guidance. Show them great respect and wholehearted love because of their work. And live peacefully with each other." - 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 NLT
