John the Baptist prepared the way for Christ.

"Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled." - John 3:28-29 KJV

We become the bride of Christ when we turn our back on the world, and give our heart and our life to Jesus. We enter into a covenant with Him by water baptism, taking on His name, JESUS. We are cleansed by His blood, and filled with His Spirit, that we may be His bride, holy and without blemish. (Acts 2:38, James 4:4, Revelation 1:5).

"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish." - Ephesians 5:25-27 KJV

He called us to be His bride. He chose us, when He gave us His name in water baptism and His Holy Ghost in Spirit baptism. As His bride, we are faithful.

"These (these eight kings) shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful." - Revelation 17:14 KJV
