The way, the truth, and the life.
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the
life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." - John 14:6
Jesus is the Father.
"If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father
also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him." - John 14:7
Jesus is the way.
The Father put on a fleshy, human body and dwelt among His
creation for the purpose to die for the sins of the world. It is by His death,
burial, and resurrection that we are able to once again come to Him.
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is
eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." - Romans 6:23
Sin separated us from the Father, so that we could no longer
have communion, as Adam and Eve did in the beginning.
"But your iniquities have separated between you and
your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not
hear." - Isaiah 59:2
By paying the price of our sin by His sinless body on the
cross, Jesus removed this gulf of sin that separated us.
"For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God
in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." - 1 Corinthians 6:20
By repenting of our sins, and burying them by water baptism
in the name of Jesus, our sins are washed away so that we can be filled with
His Spirit.
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye
shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38
"Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into
death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the
Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." - Romans 6:4
The Father that was in Christ reconciled us to Himself.
"To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world
unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto
us the word of reconciliation." - 2 Corinthians 5:19
He made peace with us by His cross so that we could return
to Him.
"For it pleased the Father that in him should all
fulness dwell; and, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to
reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in
earth, or things in heaven. And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies
in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his
flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in
his sight: if ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved
away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached
to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a
minister;" - Colossians 1:19-23
Jesus is the truth.
"In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word
of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye
were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise," - Ephesians 1:13
The truth and the gospel of our salvation is that Jesus died
for our sins, He was buried, and He was resurrected. We obey the truth – the gospel
– by becoming dead to sin by repentance, buried with Jesus by water baptism in
Jesus name, and resurrected to new life in Jesus by the infilling of His
Spirit, the Holy Ghost, speaking in tongues as His Spirit gives us the
utterance. (1Corinthians 15:1-4, Romans 6:1-14, Acts 2:4, Acts 10:44-48, Acts
19:1-7)
Jesus is the life.
By the infilling of the Holy Ghost, we have eternal life in
heaven, and an abundant life on earth, walking with Him in His Spirit.
"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill,
and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have
it more abundantly." - John 10:10
