Church! Receiving the Promise

Jesus has a promise for you - it is the Holy Ghost!

"Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, and said unto them,

“Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things.

“And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high." - Luke 24:45-49 KJV

Before Jesus ascended up to heaven, Jesus opened the understanding of His disciples and proclaimed the gospel to them - that He would suffer, and rise from the dead the third day. This is what Peter preached in Jerusalem ten days later.

Jesus also proclaimed that the gospel should be preached beginning in Jerusalem. This would be repentance and remission of sins in the name of Jesus by water baptism. He gave the promise of the Father – power from on high – with is the baptism of the Holy Ghost. This is ALSO what Peter preached in Jerusalem ten days later!

The promise of the Holy Ghost comes when we repentant of our sins and when we are baptized for the remission of our sins in the name of Jesus.

They tarried in the city of Jerusalem as Jesus told them too, and they were endued with power from on high!

"And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." - Acts 2:1-4 KJV

The promise of the Father was poured out!

"Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language...we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God." - Acts 2:6, 11 KJV

Peter preached the gospel of Jesus and explained to them,

"Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear." - Acts 2:33 KJV

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

“For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." - Acts 2:38-39 KJV

Turn to Jesus! Come to church and receive the Promise!

Let’s have church!
