Why I am baptized in Jesus name - Part 10

I am baptized in Jesus name to apply the blood of Christ our Passover to my life

When the Israelites were in Egypt, God told them to shed the blood of an innocent lamb. This lamb would save them from the death angel when it came through the land on Passover night. It was called the Passover.

"Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover." - Exodus 12:21 KJV

It was not enough that the Passover lamb died, the BLOOD OF THE PASSOVER LAMB HAD TO BE APPLIED TO THEIR HOUSE IN ORDER FOR THEM TO BE SAVED.

"And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.

“For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you." - Exodus 12:22-23 KJV

Jesus is our Passover lamb. "Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:" - 1 Corinthians 5:7 KJV

Jesus was crucified at Passover. (John 19:14-15). Like the bones of the Passover lamb, Jesus’ bones were not broken. (Numbers 9:12, John 19:33, 36) He was without blemish (Exodus 12:5, 1 Peter 1:19). Bitter herbs were eaten with the Passover to remember their bitter bondage. Jesus was given vinegar just before His death that paid the price for our deliverance from our bitter bondage to sin and death. (Exodus 12:8, John 19:29-30, Hebrews 2:14-15)

Just as the blood of the Passover lamb had to be applied to their house in order for them to be saved from the death angel, we must APPLY the blood of Jesus to our house to be saved.

Our body is our ‘house.’ ("For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." - 2 Corinthians 5:1 KJV Another translation: "For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands." - 2 Corinthians 5:1 NLT)

We APPLY His blood when we are baptized in Jesus name.

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." - Acts 2:38-39 KJV
