"For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many
wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: but God
hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath
chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; and
base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea,
and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: that no flesh
should glory in his presence.
“But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto
us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: that,
according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord."
- 1 Corinthians 1:26-31
There are few that are wise in the world’s eyes or powerful
or wealthy that are called. Instead, God chose things the world considers
foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. He chose things that
are weak to shame those who are powerful. He chose things despised by the
world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what
the world considers important. As a result, no one can ever glory in His
presence!
We have put on Christ. (Galatians 3:27) We have repented of
our sins, have been baptized in Jesus name for the remission of our sins, and
Jesus has filled us with His Spirit (Acts 2:38). We can do all things through
Christ which strengtheneth us. (Philippians 4:13)
We are His representative to the world. (2Corinthians
5:19-21) He has made us right with Him, made us pure and holy, and has freed us
from sin. All glory belongs to Jesus!
