What did Jesus say about receiving the Holy Ghost?
The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of Jesus. (John 14:16-18, 26). The Holy Ghost is also called the Spirit, Spirit of Truth, Comforter, Spirit of your Father, Holy Spirit, Spirit of Christ, Spirit of God.
"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." - John 3:5 KJV
Jesus let us know we need the Spirit, which is the Holy Ghost, to enter the kingdom of God.
He also let us know the Holy Ghost is like the wind, and there is a sound when we receive the Holy Ghost.
"The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit." - John 3:8 KJV
We found this to be true on the Day of Pentecost.
"And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting." - Acts 2:2 KJV
The sound from heaven that was like the wind was the disciples speaking in tongues as they were born of the Spirit.
"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." - Acts 2:4 KJV
Jesus also said His Spirit is like rivers of living water. He said those that believe on Him should receive His Spirit, the Holy Ghost.
"In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified [entered into His glory].)" - John 7:37-39 KJV
"But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life." - John 4:14 KJV
