Killing Sin

"Knowing this, that our old man [our old sinful self] is crucified with him [Jesus], that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin." - Romans 6:6 KJV

We put sin to death in our life by repentance, burying our sins by water baptism in the name of Jesus. We COVENANT with Jesus that we HENCEFORTH will not serve sin. When entering into this blood covenant, we have the promise of the gift of God’s Spirit, the Holy Ghost, so that we may overcome sin and live a NEW life in Christ.

"Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:" - Romans 6:3-5 KJV

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38 KJV

"For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." - Acts 2:39 KJV

Because we have put sin to death in our life, and walk in the power of His holy Spirit, we become a witness for Jesus. Our life is changed. We have a new commitment and a new relationship with Him.

"This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh." - Galatians 5:16 KJV

"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost [Spirit] is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." - Acts 1:8 KJV

"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." - Romans 8:1 KJV

"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." - Philippians 4:13 KJV
