The Road to Calvary (Chart from Exploring God's Word Bible study)

"From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day." - Matthew 16:21 KJV

(Also: Matthew 17:9, 22-23, 20:18-19, Mark 9:30–32; Luke 9:43–45, John 2:19-22, 7:33, 13:33, 14:19, 16:5, 10,16-22).

Isaiah prophesied of the death of Jesus. (Isaiah 53).

"He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth." - Isaiah 53:7 KJV

Jesus was born to die.

"Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour [But this is the very reason I came!]." - John 12:27 KJV

"Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;" - Hebrews 2:14 KJV

The baptism of Jesus was His death. (Matthew 20:22, Mark 10:38).

"But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!" - Luke 12:50 KJV

"Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." - Romans 6:3-4 KJV (Acts 2:38).

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

“For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." - Acts 2:38-39 KJV
