Jesus was born in Bethlehem.
"And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city
of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem;
(because he was of the house and lineage of David:) to be taxed with Mary his
espoused wife, being great with child.
"And so it was, that, while they were there, the days
were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her
firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger;
because there was no room for them in the inn". - Luke 2:4-7
God Himself, the Everlasting Father, would put on flesh and
be born a baby.
The King of kings and Lord of lords would be born King of
the Jews.
"But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little
among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that
is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from
everlasting". - Micah 5:2
"Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the
days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in
the east, and are come to worship him". - Matthew 2:1-2
"Bethlehem" in Hebrew means "house of bread."
(“Beth” means “house” and “lehem” means “bread”).
Jesus is the "Bread of Life."
"I am that bread of life." - John 6:48 KJV
"I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if
any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will
give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world". - John
6:51
