"And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;" - Ephesians 6:15 KJV
There are a number of pieces to the whole armour of God.
This armour is necessary for us as a believer to “stand against the wiles of
the devil” and to “be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all,
to stand.” We also need it to “wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this
world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Ephesians 6:11-13).
What is the gospel? How is it the gospel of peace? And what
is the preparation?
According to the Bible, the gospel is the death, burial, and
resurrection of Jesus. Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and on the third
day rose again.
"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel
which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by
which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless
ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I
also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and
that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the
scriptures:" - 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV
According to the Bible, the gospel is preached and received.
We stand in the gospel and are saved by the gospel.
The gospel is the gospel of peace because by the gospel, Jesus
made peace between us and Him. By the blood He shed on the cross, Jesus
reconciled us back to Himself.
"And, having made peace through the blood of his cross,
by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be
things in earth, or things in heaven.
“And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your
mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh
through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his
sight:
If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not
moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was
preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a
minister;" - Colossians 1:20-23 KJV
"And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it
is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace,
and bring glad tidings of good things!" - Romans 10:15 KJV (Isaiah 52:7).
"To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world
unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto
us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as
though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye
reconciled to God." - 2 Corinthians 5:19-20 KJV
What is the preparation of the gospel of peace and how are
we reconciled to God?
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye
shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
“For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to
all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." -
Acts 2:38-39 KJV
