The Wrath of the Lamb
How could a lamb, the symbol of gentleness, have wrath?
Jesus is "the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of
the world." (John 1:29). As the Lamb, His visitation to man is one of
gentleness and mercy.
Yet Jesus, the Creator of the Universe, has two Divine
Attributes. He has the Divine Attribute of Mercy, as well as the Divine
Attribute of Justice and Judgement.
Jesus told His people when He dwelt among them that He did
not come to walk among them in judgment; He came to them in mercy, love, and
forgiveness.
"…for I came not to judge the world, but to save the
world." - John 12:47 KJV
Jesus took up a cross and died for our sins, was buried, and
on the third day He rose from the dead. After 40 days of witnessing of the
power of His resurrection, His disciples watched Him ascend up to heaven. We
will see Him again in the clouds at the time of the rapture, the first
resurrection.
"For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even
so them also which sleep in Jesus [believers who have died] will God bring with
him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive
and remain unto the coming of the Lord [still living when the Lord returns]
shall not prevent them which are asleep [will not meet Him ahead of those who
have died].
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout,
with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in
Christ [believers who have died] shall rise first: then we which are alive and
remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in
the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." - 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17
KJV
Those that are caught up to meet the Lord in the air, know
Him in His Divine Attribute of Mercy.
Those that are left in the world, shall meet the Lamb of God
with His Divine Attribute of Judgment.
"And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the
rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and
every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
and said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of
him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: for the great
day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?" - Revelation
6:15-17 KJV
"Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the
day of salvation." - 2 Corinthians 6:2 KJV
"… Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said
unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ
for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For
the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off,
even as many as the Lord our God shall call." - Acts 2:37-39 KJV
