Becoming the temple of God – Part Two

Just as Jesus’ body was born as the temple of God, our bodies become the temple of God when we repent, are baptized in Jesus name, and receive the Holy Ghost, which is God’s Spirit.

Jesus said, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” This temple which Jesus spoke of is His body. (John 2:19-22)

Jesus’ body was destroyed when He died. He was buried, and on the third day He raised it up by His Spirit. (1Cor. 15:3-4)

To become the temple of God, our body must go through a similar process: we become dead to sin – we destroy our old sinful nature. We are buried with Jesus by baptism in His name, and we are raised to a new life by being filled with His Spirit. By this, we become the temple of God. (Rom. 6:2-6)

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 KJV - What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 KJV - Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

2 Corinthians 6:16 KJV - And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
