The command in Matthew 28:19 is to baptize in the NAME of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:" - Matthew 28:19. This NAME is “JESUS.”
On the Day of Pentecost, the church began with the pouring out of God’s Spirit (Joel 2:28, Acts 2:16-17). Apostle Peter, standing up with the other eleven apostles, gave the answer to the question of the multitude when they said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? (Acts 2:37)
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38
"Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls." - Acts 2:41
Philip the evangelist also baptized in JESUS name.
"But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women." - Acts 8:12
The apostles approved of Philip’s baptizing in the name of Jesus, for they sent Apostles Peter and John to help Philip with the revival he was preaching in Samaria.
"Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (for as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost." - Acts 8:14-17
Apostle Peter preached the gospel to the first Gentile converts.
"While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God… " - Acts 10:44-46
Apostle Peter baptized the Gentiles in the same saving NAME as the Jews and Samaritans were baptized in, “JESUS” name.
"…Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord." - Acts 10:46-48
Apostle Paul likewise baptized in Jesus name. When he came to Ephesus, he found disciples of John, preached to them Jesus, and re-baptized them in the name of “JESUS.”
"And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus." - Acts 19:3-5
It is by the NAME “JESUS” that sins are remitted and by which we are saved.
Those today that obey the command of Jesus in Matthew 28:19, just as the apostles and all the early church did, call the name of “JESUS” upon the person they are baptizing!
"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." - Acts 4:12
