"And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground,
and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living
soul." - Genesis 2:7
Jesus breathed on His disciples, signaling to them that they
would receive eternal life when they would receive the Holy Ghost:
"Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as
my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he
breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:" - John
20:21-22
Jesus told His disciples that just as a sound accompanies
the wind, a sound accompanies the infilling of the Holy Ghost:
"Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born
again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof,
but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that
is born of the Spirit." - John 3:7-8
"And, being assembled together with them, commanded
them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of
the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me." - Acts 1:4
Jesus commanded His disciples to wait in Jerusalem to
receive the promise of the Holy Ghost.
"And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were
all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven
as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were
sitting. ... And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak
with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." - Acts 2:1-2, 4
God had breathed Life into man!
"And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is
also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him." - Acts
5:32
Jesus promises His Spirit – the Holy Ghost – to all those
that obey His gospel:
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye
shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
“For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to
all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." -
Acts 2:38-39
