Wednesday April 5, 2023 at sunset is when Passover begins. During the time when the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt, God told Moses to have the people sacrifice a lamb and apply its blood to their house to save them from the final plague of death.
"For
I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn
in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I
will execute judgment: I am the LORD." - Exodus 12:12
"And
the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I
see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to
destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt." - Exodus 12:13
It was
not enough to simply BELIEVE the blood of the lamb would save them from death;
the Israelites had to APPLY the blood to their house.
The
Bible calls Jesus our Passover. (1Corinthians 5:7). Some translations say “our
Passover Lamb.” We too are saved when we APPLY the blood of Jesus to “our house:”
WHEN WE ARE BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF JESUS.
It is
not enough to simply BELIEVE the blood of Jesus will save us; we must APPLY His
blood by water baptism in the name of Jesus.
"Repent,
and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission
of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38
"And
now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling
on the name of the Lord." - Acts 22:16
