Church!
The Lord promised he would be back for His church. We can
see the signs of the times.
"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some
men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any
should perish, but that all should come to repentance...
Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be
diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. And
account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation…" - 2 Peter 3:9,
14-15 KJV
"And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and
some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the
saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of
God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of
Christ:" - Ephesians 4:11-13 KJV
Another translation:
"The Lord isn't really being slow about his promise, as
some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want
anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. ... And so, dear friends,
while you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort to be found
living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in his sight. And remember,
our Lord's patience gives people time to be saved…" - 2 Peter 3:9, 14-15
"Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God's Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ." - Ephesians 4:11-13
