The Power of the Holy Ghost

We are promised the gift of the Holy Ghost when we repent and are water baptized in Jesus name.

Acts 2:38-39 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Jesus said when we receive the Holy Ghost, we would receive power. This power is for the kingdom of God. It is the power to do the works of God. It is the power to live an overcoming life. It is the power to be witnesses of Jesus.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

The works accompany our witness of Jesus that He is God.

Acts 4:33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

Acts 14:3 Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

Acts 6:8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

Romans 15:19 Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

1Corinthians 2:4-5 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

1Thessalonians 1:5 For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

We can expect the Holy Ghost to move in our life. Jesus is a healer and a deliverer. He is an awesome prayer answering God. He knows our thoughts, our questions, our fears, our needs, and He answers and supplies. We can go to church, hear the word of God, and God can speak to us personally. We can be prayed for in Jesus name and be healed and delivered. We can worship and others pray with us and we can receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. We serve an awesome God! Jesus loves us and cares for us.

Ephesians 3:20-21 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
