What is the kingdom of God?
"For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but
righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost." - Romans 14:17
The kingdom of God is a spiritual kingdom.
"Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for,
behold, the kingdom of God is within you." - Luke 17:21
It is a kingdom of power which comes from the Holy Ghost –
the Spirit of God within us. It is a life changing power.
"For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in
power." - 1 Corinthians 4:20
"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost
is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in
all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." -
Acts 1:8
How do we enter the kingdom of God?
"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the
kingdom of God." - John 3:5
"The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest
the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth:
so is every one that is born of the Spirit." - John 3:8
When did this sound as of a wind and of the Spirit happen?
"And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they
were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from
heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were
sitting. ... And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak
with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." - Acts 2:1-2, 4
Peter preached the gospel of Jesus on this day of Pentecost. When the
people asked, What shall we do? Peter told them how to be born of water and of
the Spirit.
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye
shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38
We are born of water when we are water baptized in Jesus
name. We are born of the Spirit when we receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (the
Spirit). This is how we enter the kingdom of God. This is how the kingdom of God is within us. This is how we obey the gospel.
"Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is
in heaven."
The Lord is "not willing that any should perish, but
that all should come to repentance." - 2 Peter 3:9b
It is God’s will that all repent and come into His kingdom
here on earth as it is in heaven.
"And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in
all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end
come." - Matthew 24:14
Don’t wait – obey the gospel of the kingdom - Acts 2:38
