What do preachers preach when they preach the gospel of Jesus Christ?

What did they preach in the Bible?

They preached “how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” (1Corinthians 15:3-4)

Peter preached the gospel on the Day of Pentecost when the church began. (Acts 2:22-24)

What was the response to his preaching?

"Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?" - Acts 2:37 KJV

Next, Peter preached how to apply the gospel to our life.

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." - Acts 2:38-39 KJV

What was the response?

"Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls." - Acts 2:41 KJV

Where else did they preach the gospel?

Peter preached the gospel at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful where the lame man was healed in the name of Jesus. (Acts 3:13-15)

He then preached how to obey the gospel. (Acts 3:19)

What was the result?

"Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand." - Acts 4:4 KJV

The next day Peter preached the gospel to the rulers, and elders, and scribes, and Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest.

"Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole." - Acts 4:10 KJV

He then preached to them salvation in the name of Jesus.

"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." - Acts 4:12 KJV

What was their response?

"And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus." - Acts 4:18 KJV

"But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard." - Acts 4:19-20 KJV

"So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done." - Acts 4:21 KJV
When Peter and the other apostles were brought before the council and the high priest (Acts 5:27), they preached the gospel to them.

"The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree." - Acts 5:30 KJV

They then preached obedience to the gospel – repentance and forgiveness of sins and receiving the Holy Ghost.

"Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him." - Acts 5:31-32 KJV

What was their response?

"When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them." - Acts 5:33 KJV

They were then given good advice.

"And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: but if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God." - Acts 5:38-39 KJV
