There are those that pervert the gospel of Christ by pulling verses out of context. Here are some more familiar verses that some that are NOT preaching the gospel preach as their message of salvation.

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." - Romans 10:9

"For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." - Romans 10:10

"For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed." - Romans 10:11

"For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him." - Romans 10:12

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." - Romans 10:13

The PROBLEM is, THIS IS WHERE THEY STOP with their “gospel.” These preachers leave off the REST of the story.

What is the REST OF THE STORY?

"How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?" - Romans 10:14-16

In the REST of the story, the Bible tells us that in order to be saved, we need to HEAR the GOSPEL preached from a PREACHER that is SENT FROM GOD. AND we need to OBEY THE GOSPEL.   

What is the gospel?

"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:" - 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV

Paul preached how that Christ died for our sins, that He was buried, and that He rose again – the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.

After we have HEARD the gospel from a preacher sent by God, to be saved we need to BELIEVE and then OBEY the gospel.

How do we OBEY the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus?

We crucify our sinful nature by repentance, we are buried with Jesus by baptism in a watery grave in Jesus name for the remission of our sins, and we are resurrected by receiving the Holy Ghost to live a new, holy life. (Romans 6:1-13)

THIS is how we OBEY the GOSPEL:

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38
