It Is Time To Awake Out Of Sleep

You may have thought long ago, that Jesus would appear any day, any moment. It seemed all was in place for him to call his church home. And now, things we never imagined have come to our world, supplying pieces for the finished plan that we didn’t realize were missing, making his appearing even more imminent.

If we have become lulled to sleep, thinking that the Lord has delayed his coming, falling into compromise and the pleasures of sin for a season, now time is running out. We must wake up. Our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.

Romans 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

We must turn from those activities that God would condemn us for. When we have repented of these sins, by the blood of Jesus that has been applied to our life by water baptism in Jesus name for the remission of our sins, we may step back into God’s Mercy, which shields and protects us from any fiery dart the enemy would throw at us with his accusations.

Romans 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

Because we walk in God’s Mercy, we are living a life pleasing to him, and an example to all those around us. Because of the Mercy of Jesus, we are merciful to others, which draws them to our heavenly Father. Because we are of the day and walking in the light of Jesus, we must separate ourselves from wild parties and drunkenness, from sexual promiscuity and immoral living, from quarreling and jealousy.

Romans 13:13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

We must remember that we carry the name of our Father, “Jesus”, and that we walk in his Spirit. Therefore, we must continually remind ourselves that sin is not worth shaming the name we carry, or losing the Spirit of God that he has so graciously blessed us with.

Romans 13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Time is running out! It is time to wake up, and to live right, and take the opportunity to do all we can for the kingdom of God. Jesus IS coming soon!
